Skimmer question

Hello. I'm still in the process of getting all the parts and pieces to set-up a 75g tank. The skimmer I have is a Reef Octopus NWB 150. This will go in the first chamber of my 38g sump (36x19x12). My question is, how tall should the baffles be and should I set the skimmer on a stand? I have yet to build the stand, so I can build it a few inches taller than I had planned (36" from floor to bottom of tank). The middle chamber will be the return pump section, and the refugium will be on the other end, feed by a T from the return line. Thanks.

How much space will there be inside the stand?
The skiimer will need approximately 7in of water. If you make your baffles higher and put the skimmer on a stand then you can increase your total water volume and your return section volume. But you NEED to figure out the max height your water level can be where you have enough space to remove the skimmer cup out of the stand after the skimmer is on a stand for 7inches of water. I made a mistake with my purchased stand and I did not have enough space to get my skimmer body in and out of the sump because of the low clearance with the stand.

I would probably do the water height a few inches above the 7 with a stand under the skimmer.

Sounds good, then the heater could go under the stand. Currently, with the skimmer on the sump floor, and the 36" planned height of the stand, I'll have about 9" of space above the top of the skimmer, so I could raise it up 8" and still be able to get the cup off. I was thinking maybe 10" or 12" for the baffles, so a 3" or 5" stand.
