100G tank build and info

Hello guys new here but not new to the saltwater scene though I have been out of it for about 6 years I used to have a 115G reef and 220 aggressive FOWLR. Currently I am in an apartment and limited on space HOWEVER at the end of May I will be moving to a very large apartment so the upgrades have already begun. Currently I'm running a JBJ nano reef 30G pretty decked out includes

AI Vega Lighting (upgrading to 2 for my 100G)
Innovative Marine Protein skimmer
JBJ UV sterilizer
jbj wavemaker
45Lbs of live rock
about 15 corals and 3 little fishies
2 clowns and a cleaner wrasse

new setup will include
100G DSA with custom built stand picking up Sunday
trigger systems sump 36x16x15
1 MP40 with 2 Koralia 750s to produce some extra current behind rocks
reef octopus 6" skimmer
Two little fishies phosban, carbon, and kalkwasser reactors
4 stage RO-DI unit (already owned just need new filters)
Reefkeeper lite with auto top off (ph and temp sensors)
and as previously mentioned items from the other system

anyway for the fun stuff first pic is current tank
last set of pics are items I have already purchased for the new system

AHA , we have similar setups...Just wondering ,are you drilling the Trigger? And what are you planning for a return pump? I'm getting ready to buy a Ruby 36 for my 100, and not sure if I want to go external return or use a Sicce Syncra internally.

my original intent was a dennar mag drive 1800 buuut after talking to some friends I feel like a 1200 is the way to go. I had considered drilling it as well but I feel like it could mess with the overall integrity of the sump.

Go with the sicce, I had the 1200 on my 125 and sometimes it would not restart. The Sicce is more quiet then the mag 1200 and its has adjustable flow knob.

Obviously I'm not trying to skimp on the setup however... The Sicce pumps are pretty expensive comparatively is $50 really worth getting the sicce pump over a mag drive? I did read some reviews and it looks pretty good though.

Not sure if it's worth it, haven't used the Sicce yet, still using an Iwaki 40 on my wet /dry.... Have heard lots of good things on the Sicce. I thought I needed a pump a few months ago and got the Sicce from my LFS,turned out didn't need it then.

My mag drive was only in service for 4 months before it started to act up, I have a mag 9 on my skimmer with no problems so far, but when the power goes out and my generator kicks on I couldn't chance the mag not starting back up.

So my question was do I really need to run a kalk reactor or should i go ahead and spend the money and get a calc reactor instead? I've heard pros and cons both ways previously I used to dose my tanks daily but now since I have a little extra in the $$$ category I want to do it right. Thoughts??

I am wanting to mount dead rock and shelves onto the black overflow box anyone have advice on the best way to accomplish this? I was thinking silicon? Also where can I find a good assortment of flat rock pretty cheap?? I am looking to cover it for a more natural reef effect? Thoughts?? Has anyone done this?

I'm not 100% sure that silicone would hold up like you want. And you'd hate to have it be mounted & 6 months down the road it decides to come loose. Others will verify whether the silicone will work okay or not.

Marko's Rocks has some stuff you can use. But you won't be able to remove it from the overflow box.

I believe you can get some flat pieces from TBS - Tampa Bay Saltwater/sponsor here - and even get some that have been cut so they have 1 flat edge.

everything up and going no major issues with plumbing other than having to tighten a bulkhead! Super cloudy today cause of sand addition but anyway super stoked!!

Also been doing some research and ordered a Jabeo WP40 for the heck of it, I figured why not spend $80 vs $500 right now!!

Also the dersa overflow is super loud it's the "waterfall" that's driving me nuts! Any ideas how to quiet that up?? Thanks

p.s. I know I need some wire management That comes later haha

OK soooooo... EVERYTHING IS IN THE TANK!!!!!!!!

I was at the LFS and they had a lightly used vortech mp40 for $200 so I snatched it up! also got some miracle mud for the sump and about 20G of saltwater.

It took almost all day to set up rock work and find proper placement for everything but its all happy and where it needs to be (I think)

still need to set up phosban reactor but people are saying wait 2 months is that right?

here are some full tank shots! Let me know what you think? I went ahead and added the jebao and wow what a difference its really moving some water though i'm still trying to get some dead spots moving... My xenia are hating the new tank and still not opening maybe the water is to clean I don't know I hear they like a little nitrates in their diet... If you can see a better spot for me to put them let me know! So as you can see I added a few new corals yesterday. The red and green Lobo on the bottom along with about 3 zoa frags and the larger purple monti cap let me know what you think and about placement.. THANKS!!
