what is it??
ok so I've been hanging out here for awhile and learning about reef tanks.. finally took the plunge and started to convert my dry rock with one piece of live I picked up from LFS.
I liked all the red green and purple algae on it so I hope the spreads but one thing I saw today concerned me. The tank has been setup for a little over a day and some stuff is already happening. First, there is something growing on the glass. Second I see this sort of tube shaped thing. and after looking very closely I saw some things crawling around. I think they are probably some sort of pods but not sure since I have no experience. I didn't think things would be happening so fast! Also the water has a sort of green shade to it, wasn't really expecting that. Salinity is 1.025 and I'm using RO/DI water from a BRS 5stage. I haven't fed anything to the tank yet because I expect the die off from the other rocks will provide enough food for the tank. Maybe I'm wrong. I just want to know I'm on the right track. current tank cooking 29gal eventually going in my 75 |

at first i thought the first pic was a chip in the glass or salt creep. but it can be almost any invert with out an exoskeleton, you'll see from the links below that it can be anything from a nudibranch, to a flatworm, or even the back side of a tunicate.
second pic is a feather duster. http://www.chucksaddiction.com/hitchworms.html http://www.chucksaddiction.com/Hitchsnails.html i was just looking for the things in your pics but here is the whole site, have fun identifying all your critters http://www.chucksaddiction.com/hitchhikers.html
