Devils hand with white spots

I have a devil hands does very well in my 45 gallon, but last few weeks I notice 5white spots appearing on the coral. Looks like chucks of the coral is missing?? Could it be my hermit crabs or something else, looks like 5 spots about twice the size of a grain of rice on the devils hand?? any ideas, all other corals look great. i only have a couple of clowns in the tank for fish

One thing that can do that is if salt crystals fall onto the coral. Hermits don't do this sort of thing. Nor do worms.
