75g rimless quai-cube
So after a year of planing, saving, reading, lurking, and generally just plain obsessing about getting back into saltwater the day has finally come to set up my tank. The last time I did this, I went the cheap route. I bought pretty much everything secondhand and rushed everything. This time my mantra was "you get what you pay for". I tried to do extensive research on everything I bought before hand, which i can tell you will lead to a lot of headaches with all the contradictory info out there. Finally I made some decisions.
One of my biggest concers for this tank was the overall aesthetic. I wanted the entire setup to be as visually pleasing as possible. After looking at hundreds of tanks on here and RC, I started to be really drawn to rimless cubes. I'm very attracted to the modern aesthetic it produces. It took a long time to decide on just the right size tank. I didn't want it to overwhelm the room nor be too small. So i set about constructing cardboard tank mock-ups(yes I am that anal). In the end i was happiest with 30x24x24. At 75g this allows me to keep most of what I want and the extra 6" on the front pane really does enhance the viewing area over a standard 60g cube. Now that I had my tank picked out, it was time to choose a stand. I wanted a very clean modern look, so I came up with a design and had it custom made. I went with 36" tall and made it the same footprint as the tank, 30x24, with no border. So it's all very clean lines and modern. I went with a white piano finish (to contrast the black background of the tank) and am amazed at how well it turned out. The whole instal took about 5 hours, but im really happy with the way it turned out! Haven't hung my lights yet but should get to that in the next day or two. |

Finally got my Radion hung last night. I still need to hide the cord in the hanging fixture. This light is sweet, the controllability on it is amazing and iv barley even played with it yet. Also today my chromis decided to come out of hiding, after three days. I think he just wants to show off how good he looks under this light.

Looking great! Where did you get that light mount from or did you build it yourself ?
