not really dangerous, just unsightly. As mentioned, increase flow to the area, siphon it off as best as you can, and it will go away on its own. It will be back from time to time, as will hair algae and diatoms, to name a couple more.

ok got a new power head. 30% water change and sucked all of it i could see out. and i turned off my power center so no lights. i have no coral at all its fowlr. so i might leave the power center off for a week instead of 3 days. i also got a thick curtain for the window which is on the adjacent wall. so my clowns will have to do with the light produced by my bedroom light for a week. and i should be rid of this for a little while right?

Doing a lights-out will help for the cyano that's there right now, but it will come back if you have excess nutrients in the tank (phosphates and nitrates namely). Have you tested for these?

Couple the lights out with either good skimming or a 30% wate rchange at the end of the period. You may have to do it once monthly for a while.

im actually in the process of getting a skimmer. and i dont have a phosphate test kit, i know i need one. heres my before and after water change test results:

before after
Nitrate 40ppm 10ppm
nitrite 0ppm 0ppm
alkalinity 300ppm(KH) 300ppm(KH)
pH 8.1 8.2
Ammonia 0ppm 0ppm

btw this was my regular scheduled bi-weekly water change. i just focused on sucking out the cyano. i think i will just do the lights out on the last week of every month. ill have a skimmer and phosphate tests real soon. and then i can find the cause and stop treating the symptoms.
