My Kessil A360W/Apex setup
I had a PM inquiry about my new 360/Apex setup, so I figured I would just post a post in case anyone else is interested.
I robbed most of this from the Neptune forums, but tweaked the colors to my preference. I do a long ramp and and ramp down, with a spectrum shift from white in the morning to blue in the evening. As a side note - if you are new to both Apex and Kessil (as I was when I first plugged it in), then the easiest way to quickly sanity check that things are working is to plug it in, then hit the dashboard and manually turn the variable switch outlets on and off. You should find one that turns the light on and off, and another one that (assuming the light is on) shifts spectrum from yellow to blue. Anyway... Profiles for intensity: NB - If you set the start intensity to 0 on a ramp, the light won't come on until 10 (at least that is my experience). This is a big chunk of time on a four hour ramp-up, which is why my intensity starts at 10. Profile Name: Int_Sunr (sunrise) Control Type: Ramp Ramp time (minutes): 240 Start intensity: 10 End intensity: 80 Profile Name: Int_Dayl (mid-day) Control Type: Ramp Ramp time (minutes): 1 Start intensity: 80 End intensity: 80 Profile Name: Int_Nigh (sunset) Control Type: Ramp Ramp time (minutes): 180 Start intensity: 80 End intensity: 10 Profiles for color spectrum: Profile Name: ColorSun (sunrise) Control Type: Ramp Ramp time (minutes): 240 Start intensity: 100 End intensity: 50 Profile Name: ColorDay (mid-day) Control Type: Ramp Ramp time (minutes): 1 Start intensity: 50 End intensity: 50 Profile Name: ColorEve (sunset) Control Type: Ramp Ramp time (minutes): 180 Start intensity: 50 End intensity: 0 Outlets: VarSpd1_I1 (Light spectrum, 100 is white and 0 is blue) Fallback OFF Set OFF If Time 09:00 to 13:00 Then ColorSun If Time 13:01 to 17:00 Then ColorDay If Time 17:01 to 20:00 Then ColorEve VarSpd2_I2 (Light Intensity) Set OFF Fallback OFF Set OFF If Time 09:00 to 13:00 Then Int_Sunr If Time 13:01 to 17:00 Then Int_Dayl If Time 17:01 to 20:00 Then Int_Nigh My current temporary setup is below. You can (sort of) see some of the color range with the two main lights on the controller at about 30% (mostly blue) and the standalone refugium light at about 80% (more white). I will be running four A360W's over my 180 once the rebuild has been completed. Dave |

I noticed a minor copy/paste error in the above, so just correcting that...

Your temp setup looks very similar to mine! You've got to appreciate the irony of Kessils (or Radions in my case) over a Rubbermaid water trough!

Interesting that you start the day with color at 100 and reduce to 50 for mid-day. Do you find that low intensity and whiter color is a more natural sunrise?

Whiter color? That's been my perception in the wild doing morning dives, but that could be caffeine related. If I'm honest this is mostly a personal preference thing, but I haven't killed off anything in the tank so I'm sticking with it. Dave |

I tried it and I like it — thanks for the idea!
I'm using intensity:25–80–30 and color: 100–65-35, and add some T-5 for mid-day to brighten things up a bit. |
