LED lighting for 58rr

Looking into 2 of the kessil a360 with wide angle lenses. Anyone used these before. Results good bad and ugly? Will they be enough light for a sps and clam only tank. Wanting some input before I drop almost 1000 bucks on leds. The only thing I like about these over the ai sols are the gooseneck holders. Keep a sleek look to my tank. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I have 4 A360W's, and I like them. My Maxima seems to like them too, and I am planning on lots more SPS for the new build (but water quality comes first). If you already have an apex controller or similar then their controllability is great (and as good or better than the Sol's), if not that is something to consider. Make sure you like shimmer too, because you are going to have a lot of it (which I personally like).

Knowing the spread of the 360W (which is huge - two would cover a lot more than 36x18), and the fact that your tank is only three feet long and not that deep front to back, you might want to consider the normal version rather than the wide unless you want to spill over a lot of light or run them underwater (this will also give you more punch down at the sandbed). That's just an opinion from a dude on the internet who hasn't actually seen the normal version though, so caveat lector.

I'm sure someone will be along momentarily to tell you how great the reefbreeders/maxspect are just to make you agonize your decision a bit more.

Dave

Thanks for the info. That was one of my decisions was the wide or normal model. Do you have to have a controller. I have the older aquacontroller Jr. I like the linkable capability to where I adjust one and the other does the same. And yes I love the shimmer. Do you think one of the wides would run the whole tank.

I have the "full" apex, so for me the Kessils made a lot of sense.

As for one wide on a high-light-requirement tank of that size and shape - not without compromising what you put and where. Particularly given the dimensions, since you are essentially fitting a relatively narrow rectangle shape into a big round area of light. My gut feeling is that two normals would put a lot more light where you want it, and waste a lot less where you don't. That's just one man's opinion though.

I might have to buy an apex from what I heard about them. Are the knobs easy to tune a spectrum and intensity.
