Possible mini refugium?
I was checking out the local flea markets today looking for supplies and stuff, and I found this:
http://www.amazon.com/Discovery-Kids.../dp/B0045H4EA6 Since it was $1.50 I picked it up. It's actually really cute but the circulation pumps unfortunately do not work. However I had an idea that I wanted to check out with more experienced folk. I was wondering if it might be possible to run a couple of small tubes through the top and turn this into a kind of mini refugium for the 10 gallon reef I am working on setting up. It looks like it might hold half a gallon, so its a bit small, but there is certainly room for some rubble rock or macroalgae and a bit of sand in it. Do you think it'd be big enough to do any good in this way or would it be a waste of time? For reference I'm planning on having a couple of clowns, maybe an orchid dottyback too, along with the usual crabs and snails. I'm not quite sure what sort of corals I want to go for, other than ones that don't need the mega lights like shrooms. Probably just whatever I can find local really. |
