Angry IM Minimax Reactor

Just purchased the midsize version and having trouble getting the flow correct. I filled it about halfway with GFO from BRS and the flow from the pump just shoves it all the way to the top, even on the lowest flow setting. Not to mention the pump actually slips out of the hole in the bottom of the reactor (this I plan on using some thread tape to tighten the bound so it doesn't slip out).

Anyone else had this issue? It's almost like the pump is too strong for how big the reactor is? The directions aren't a real help either are the videos I have looked up on this particular model.

Only thing I can suggest is reducing the amount of gfo. 2-3 " has always worked for me. Some brands clump up easily so filling it halfway you may just be creating a plug and the pressure is pushing it all to the top.

Same thing happened when I used carbon in my desktop. I just bought extra sponges and added them so my carbon would not shift to the top and leave gaps.
