HOB Skimmer/Refugium Combo -( Refugium 50 )
So before I go into this one, yes I've read the posts where aqua traders are known to be a cheap dealer. That being said, I went with a product from them anyway. Called the Refugium 50? or if you google that it comes up, I actually like it despite a few flaws. The few flaws are the middlde support is a joke, so it rests on the tubes which is fine. They seem to support it no problem. Second flaw is the skimmer collection cup sits loosely in its spot. That being said, the skimmer actually works great! Had dark skimmate within an hour, and its starting to build up its gunk as time goes on. Oh yea, the passive air intake they provide with the power head was a joke - plug in an air pump and bam - like takin candy from a baby. After the skimmer part, theres a nice refugium area that I put cheato in with a little sand and rubble. The water tends to go over the refugium and into the gravity overflow to the tank, so the flow in the refuge is actually low. I like it. Heres the link to check it out for yourself, and the pics are of it running for a day. I'll update the post with any likes, dislikes, and progress as time goes on.

Nice, I know some people do not like it but Eco System has there mud in a margarine type container that should fit nicely in your sump.

I'm not running mud in it at all. I'm sure you could fit some if you wanted to. I have no sump either - this is just an HOB unit.
