Are there any baffles in your sump to keep a constant level for your skimmer?

You should consider plumbing with pvc so you can keep some of the area clear for maintenance.

Consider adding more live rock.

Also, judging by the way the hardwood floor is running (the grain usually runs perpendicular to the joists) are you sure your tank is positioned so that it sits across the floor joists?

Of course, none of that matters if you're on concrete, but I just thought I'd ask.

Is the sump just one big section? If so you might look into setting up sections for bubble traps and to ensure water level for skimmer. Also could section off an area for a refugium.

+1 without baffles you might get some micro bubbles in your DT from the filter sock.

Yeah I just went and picked up about 15lbs more live rock. I am working on cleaning up the underbelly of the tank.

Yeah just one section. I am using a 55g tank. I am having a issue with water lvl for the skimmer. Should I make a section right at the water lvl w/the water passing between..? This is my first sump..and the guy I got if from said it would be cheaper to just use a tank.

Yah I just got some more rock. But the plumming will have to stay...unless I drain the tank. I am going to pin up the cords and try and put the hoses back if I can.

I dont have baffles ..I am not sure how to set them up in the sump...it sounds like that is going to be my next thing to do...I am having skimmer problems with the lowering of water in my sump

I am new to having a sump and the guy I got the tank from said that I would not need a refugium...? So I haven't looked into getting one or what the reason for having one is. It looks like I have a bit of room in the sump to change it up.
