identification please folks

hi folks , got this growth on my live rock, zoomed x120(jewelers loupe )in early stages, thought it may be a mushroom but don't want it to be bubble algae :/ anyone seen anything like this before will add link to photobucket as cant upload for some reason ??? any help would be Hugely Appreciatedhttp://s1157.photobucket.com/user/do..._0413.jpg.html,

I don't know what it is for sure, I have several in my tank and dont' seem to bother anything. I can say for sure it is not bubble algea

Left over shells/deposits from vermetid snails. There may be live ones in them also.

why would you kill them? They really won't hurt anything.

vermetids can bother corals. they are pests like aiptaisa. I almost lost a coral to vermetids before I killed them.

I've had vermitids in all my tanks forever and never observed any of my corals bothered by the mucus strings they use to catch small particles out of the water. They are what I consider beneficial filter feeders and before I went through the effort of removing them I would verify a coral is actually bothered by the strings they produce.

Some corals don't seem to mind, others can be bothered to the point of severe retraction/death. It depends.

my acans weren't bothered by them, buy my hammer wasn't in good shape and my cristata died from them. i agree, some are botherd while others are not.
