Eheim 1260 pump enough?

Hey,

I am working on setting up my 125 gallon shallow reef, it has the Glass holes 1500 GPH overflow that I installed. I am making a 40 breeder into a sump that is going to sit under the DT in the stand.

Question, I am looking into buying a Eheim 1260 pump from a guy online for a deal at $25, I would have preferred the 1262, but the price is very good. Is it going to be enough GPH to handle the overflow or am I going to run into problems?

Thanks!

I would step up to a 1262. I own both pumps and use the 1262 on my 120g and the 1260 on my 90g. Perfect flow for each tank using those pumps IMO.

Yeah problem is finding a 1262 at a decent price, cant afford to spend too much right now. I thought I had found one for $70 but I think the guy backed out.

That is why I was wondering if the 1260 would be enough, otherwise Im going to have to keep looking.

Check out the ocean runner pumps. A budget pump that rocks.

You can turn the 1260 into a 1262 by purchasing the 1262 volute, a $10 part from Eheim, and replace that part on the 1260.

I can sell you a NIB Eheim 1260 for $105 shipped. Then for $10, you can make it 1262.

either pump is fine based on your overflow (same one im running currently). i prefer the 1262, as i have two reactors i run flow to. i have both pumps....either will suit your needs.

+1 I use the OR2500 on my 110 but the OR3500 with a gate valve would give you more than enough pump.

IMO, just use the 1260. I think most people overestimate their return pumps. You need flow INSIDE the tank. The return is only part of the flow, just use the 1260 and then add some powerheads or MP40s to your display.
