12.5 gal Buckets

Ok, I saw some buckets at the flea market yeasterday and wanted to buy them. I have two of the same sizes that i use for water changes(they are hard to find). I see that they were origionally used for clorine or some other kind of pool chemical. I asked the guy about them leaching the chemical into the plastic and he said that they were food grade and non porous and i should not have a problem with them. I know he is not a reefer so he shouldn't have an expert opinion. Question---- Whould you guys buy them and feel safe using them(doing an extensive cleaning on them, of coarse)
Any help is appreciated,, Thanks

If it was clorine it should "evaporate" out of the plastic, in theory... God knows how long that would take though. I would wash them, put RODI in them and then use a chlorine test to see if anything shows up. Maybe put a power head with some carbon to soak it up.
