Question about cycling

I just finally set up my 30 gallon JBJ Rimless tank, and put in the following:

Heater
30lbs. Nature's Ocean Bio-Activ Live Aragonite Reef Sand
15 lbs. of "Real reef rock" http://realreefrock.com

Normally, I use fish to cycle, but with Salt water, is this enough? Or do i need to put damsels, in here to cycle?

Please help

To Reef Central NO you should not cycle with any fish it not fair to any fish cycle can be done with raw shrimp or even just adding fish food to the tank daily please read the stickies at the top of this page there is a lot of good info

Welcome to Reef Central! You shouldn't cycle with fish in there, read the stickies up top and if you have any questions from there just ask.

Welcome to the mix.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but there have been numerous posts from people who have been having issues with the Real Reef Rock, odd name considering it's completely synthetic.

How much deeper would the ocean be if it didn't have sponges?
