Ai Vega or Hydra

Ok, so a while back I had a thread about LED's for my upcoming 180g. I bumped my budget up a bit and I'm looking at the AI LED's now.

So for a tank with zoas, SPS, nems and a few softies; which would be better The Vega (color) and the Hydra?

Can both be controlled with my Apex?

Or would a Maxspect Razor or Reefbreeders be better ( i don't think either can be controlled by the Apex)?

thx

If you got budget, get Pacific Sun Metis Hyperion SMT for your tank.

I don't think that either ai light can be controlled by anything other than ai wireless controller or new director. The last I checked this was the case.

Innovation and quality costs. I don't know how much they are, but they are far better and is next generation LEDs. If you want LEDs cheaper, wait till the others have copied this setup.

According to a couple of stores around the Vega at least can be, haven't asked about the Hydra.

For sure, but with me just starting my tank up I can't drop that much on new lights & can't really afford to wait too long....or else I'll be waiting for ever for the next new thing.

I think your stores r not well informed because everything including ai site still shows not compatible. I wish they were so I can upgrade Sol blue to hydras.

You are correct. I emailed AI and neither the Vega nor Hydra can be controlled by the Apex.

Back to the drawing board I guess.
