Finally Dosing.....but how!!!!

I have a 38 gallon tank and have purchaed ESV B-Ionic 2 part:

Calcium is testing at 380ppm
Alk is testing at a low 134ppm
Ph (morning): 7.8
ph (evening): 8.25

In doing my research i came across this calculator that a lot of people recommend.http://reef.diesyst.com/flashcalc/flashcalc.html

If i put in my calculations and my desired results it is giving me insane results. For example. My calcium at 380ppm and i want to bring it up to 420 ppm it is saying i will need 95m/l to make this adjustment. but the instructions tell me not to exceed 1 m/l per gallon ( 38m/l in my case) am i missing something?

and which buffer do i use at which time, morning vs night time.

Thanks!

That sounds about right to bring your parameters up to the levels you wantafter that the doses will be much lower per day. You will need to know how much cal and alk your tank uses per day and that is what you dose. When you get your parameters where they should be test 3 days in a row without dosing and then find out the average per day and start dosing with that.

I also noticed you didnt have a number for mag, you will want to test that also, if that is low it will be hard to raise cal and alk. Once you get mag in the correct range though you should maybe only have to dose that once a month or so.

Check out kalkwasser dosing if you don't have too much corals in your system. You can mix that with your top-off reservoir. And if you see that your corals are consuming way too much calcium, alk, and mag, then add 2-part. I love BRS kalkwasser and I was able to keep my Calcium level at 420ppm, Alk at 8.0dkH and Mag at 1400, and pH stays between 8.2-8.4. Then 2 months ago, I got the SPS bug and purchased a TON of acros, lol so I had to start dosing 2-part.

If you have the funds, get yourself a dosing pump, the Bubble Magus BMT01 works great for me.

HTH

Enjoy reefing!

But i can't dose 95 m/l in a day, so how long should it take for me to dose the 95 m/l to get it to the right level?

Mag test comes in the mail today, so i will update with that reading asap.

You can bring that calcium up to 420 over the course of a day. Bulk Reef suggests not more than 50ppm/day, you're well within that.

But the bottle says no more than 1 mL/ gallon. I have a 38 gallon tank. that is 38 mL. The calculator says i need to add 95 mL.

Correct, you need to dose 38 ml each day until you get your calcium up to the desired level. This will take you 3-4 days to accomplish.
