So my LFS has wolf fish in stock...

Just to put this into perspective:

They get up to 5ft long and are generally found in waters between 32-37F at depths of 250-400ft.

I just... I mean... I don't even... Why? Same LFS was selling an Indian Thread Fish about a month ago

The juvenile thread fish was about $40-60 IIRC. I just feel bad for whoever buys one as juvenile without researching it first... But then again, it's their own fault for blindly buying a fish I suppose

How would a wolf fish even survive the process of collection to wholesaler to your LFS? Are they at least keeping them in a coldwater tank?

There are actually people that build tanks for them. When I had all my FW tanks, I spent a lot of time on MFK. (Monster Fish Keepers) They mean what they say.

I just saw it on their weekly live-stock update post on their website (they get orders every Monday) so I haven't seen it/them in person yet. I may take a trip out there later as I'm very curious

Can you imagine the chiller you would need to keep a big enough tank cool enough?
