What kind of fan do y'all use?

I have some LED's coming and I know keeping them cool is important as they will be installed in my canopy. I was thinking of doing one fan blowing cold air in and another pointed out for exhaust. This is for my 58 gallon. Just wondering what fans you guys like. I've seen some on amazon and I'm wondering if the $40 fans are worth it or if I can use a cheap $10 computer fan?

I have 2 EverGrow IT2080's in a canopy over my 180g DT (that's 198 3W leds) and the built in fans keep them very comfortably with in about 10 degrees of room temp. I don't run any extra fans. BTW, my OceanRevive fixtures hang in the open (no canopy) over other tanks and run at room temperature after 10 hours at 60% power.

I use a Vornado from Home Depot on the cooling circuit of a Ranco, but my pendants MH don't heat my tank up much and probably less than LED or T5 in a hood/canopy - the canpoy/hoods are the issue most of the time, not the lights. The cheap 4" computer fans really help out a bunch - i would not waste too much money on higher dollar fans.

Just get yourself some DC fans like used in computers. You should be able to get them up to 200mm, which would probably be overkill for this. Get a power supply to match the voltage (possibly from an old laptop) and wire them up. Could even put a pot on there to adjust the speed if desired.

I wouldn't even recommend fans, but if it's an enclosed hood, it won't hurt. Better safe than sorry, eh?

Point them both in and provide ventilation for humid air to escape. Using them to bring in fresh air will help prevent corrosion on the fans by reducing their exposure to moisture.
