Octopus Skimmer

I am new to the craft. I have a 125 gal with a 30 gal sump. My sump went below the skimmer level when I was vacuuming the sand, Ever since I cannot get it to calibrate correctly. The skimmer overflows with foam no matter what setting I put the valve on- all the way open or all the way closed. I have taken the skimmer out and cleaned it completely. Still no changes.

Any help appreciated.

Is your water outlet from the skimmer above the water level in sump?

It is an Octopus Turbine Pump OTP-1000. The label on the skimmer just says "Reef Octopus www.proteinskimmer.com" Here is a link to the type: http://www.reefoctopus.com/product_d...&CurrCateID=54

The 1st one is mine.

Yes the outlet is above the water level. The water used to come out at different speeds based on the amount you tighten or loosen the valve but now it just trickles.
