Need some advice on swapping tanks.
I have a 75g tank that I upgraded to my 220. The 75g is at my parents house while I set up my 220g. Iv got the 220 running and just in time because my parents want the 75g out. So I need to move everything from the old tank to tr new tank.
The old tank has a few corals 2 clams, 2 snowflake clowns, marine beta, and a cardinals. How should I go about this? Should I just move very thing to the new tank or should I keep the corals and my fish in a brute for awhile. My issue is that I don't have a light to keep above the brute for corals. |

Assuming the new tank is not cycled you could move all the live rock, fish and corals from the old tank to the new tank. Your old tank's live rock will have enough bacteria to keep up with your current fish bio-load. Then cure the new rock you will be adding into the 220 in a separate Brute trash can(s). Once the new rock is cycled you can add it safely to the 220.

The new rock is reef saver bulk reef supply rock that has been cycling in a brute for the last 2 months. There's 100lbs of that rock and about 120ish lbs from the 75g
The tank has been running since Sunday. The salinity is stable at 1.25 ph is stable at 7.9-8.0 I think I'll just make the transfer of everything but my clowns. Ill keep them in a tank with new water and a bit of live rock. I don't want to risk 300$ fish. |
