Peppermint shrimp's home at top of tank?
I have one peppermint shrimp in my 37g. He stays on top of the baffle of the protein skimmer at the very top of the tank. I've seen him in the water column at night, but never on the sand or the rocks. Why?
I have about 20 pounds of rock. There's definitely a mantis in the rocks, what I'm hoping is a porcelain crab and the blenny. When I first introduced him in the tank the blenny went after him (looked more territorial than prey drive). I also have a cuc. He's scared/feels there's nowhere to hide in the rock? |

I have a peppermint in my 125 that I never see unless I shine a flashlight in the tank at night, and then it's only his eyes glowing, he stays hidden in my rocks all the time

If there is indeed a mantis shrimp in the rocks, I think the peppermint shrimp has got the right idea by staying away. Also, that might be a hot spot for food.
