removing existing live rock
Hey guys have a question about reaquascaping my tank. right now have a lot of smaller pc of LR covered in GSP, and RICS mostly a softie tank. Would like to remove most or the rock covered in GSP and the RICS and add some larger pc of dead rock to open up my tank more for better flow and less dead spots and more room for the fish to swim. Tank is a 125 AGA with dual overflows been running since last July. I guess my question is how to do this without upsetting tank and causing an ammonia spike, do I need to cycle new rock seperatly and then add to tank?

If you can cycle them separately then that would be best or place them in your sump first

I'm assuming ghost feeding to start a cycle

Everything in moderation. You can add rock slowly, but probably slower than you think. I would cycle it separate, then put it in your sump, then add it to your DT once you check your water parameters. Just my thoughts.

Here are a few pictures of my tank. Too congested? crowded? Thought & opinions appreciated.

I agree it feels a little heavy, removing some rock and opening things up a little woud be nice.

thanks, exactly what I was thinking. LFS has some LR they have been curing for 6 weeks, willing to trade for GSP and some of my RICS .
