DC pumps- Waveline, Speedwave or Diablo?

I'm looking to replace my return pump. I have a Waveline 6000 but it just doesn't move enough water. I want to stick with a DC pump because of their quietness and compact size. I'm trying to decide between:

Waveline 12000- 3170 gph, 19.9 ft max head, abt $279- mostly "out of stock" or "preorder"- are they really not out yet?
Speedwave 10000-2640 gph, 16.5 ft max head, abt $200
Diablo 1050- 2750 gph, 16.4 ft max head, abt $279

They all look very similar, although the Waveline supposedly has a slightly higher flow and max head. The Diablo and Speedwave look identical. Is the Diablo really better for $79 more? Any experience/advice?

Allen

As far as I know with these pumps, they are all the same and manufactured in the same plant in China. The build on these are pretty cheap and mainly plastic.

I have a Waveline 6000 for my tank and water movement is not great, it's also quite loud although I never had a sump pump before so I can't compare.

The speedwave and diablo are the exact same pump with minor differences in the casing.

ASAIK, all are made to be usable submerged or out of water. That makes plastic a necessity.
Right now I have the Waveline 6000 and I find it very quiet. Just not enough water movement for my tank.

I don't believe either of those is a DC pump. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The $80 more gets you one year more warranty on the motor only, from CoralVue. These are pretty new so their reliability is unknown(AFAIK)

Im about to order either the Reef Octopus SRO 3000INT , or the Reef Octopus Diablo 200

The SRO has the wave line pumps, and the Diablo has the new DC pump

Im going to order tonight from Reef Geeks, they have 10% off right now, but still not sure, I been watching this thread also

the SRO does not use waveline pumps, they use the bubble blaster pumps. The only dc pumps that octopus has is the ones on the 3 POV line and the diablo as far as i know.

10/4, thanks, I have the Reef Octopus POV-DC1 right now, but Jermey over at Coral Vue said a DC2 would be better suited for a 180

I didn't want to spend $750 bucks for the newer Dc2, so I'm looking at the Diablo 200 which is rated to 300 gallons, and the SRO 3000

It's just a matter of which pump is better , both units looks close, except the Diablo you can control like the DC1 line

That SRO 3000 will have a full 3 year warranty on the pump.

Yeh, 3 year vs 2 year on the DC pump

Question is, is the Diablo Line better then the SRO line? With their newer design?

Apparently there is a software issue with the Waveline DC6000 controllers which is currently being addressed. The new software fixes the disappointing flow rate of the current controller.

That sounds like maybe I should hold off until I see if that fixes it. Do you know if that is something that will be available for existing pumps?

I figured I'd hold on to it even if I get a new pump. I'm sure I'll find a use for it somewhere.

I have the waveline 10000. I had a few problems with the pump. I wanted to use it externally. They fixed the issues and are sending me a new updated version.
They have the 12000 on preorder but it is too much for my tank.
