Don't know how to transfer over to 150 gallon
Im transferring all my livestock from a 60 gallon to a 150 gallon tank.
Let me start off by introducing myself first. My name is Sebastian and I currently live in Norwalk CA. Im 18 years old have been in the aquarium hobby for over 11 years and I've had saltwater tanks for about 5 or 6. We have two reef tanks in our house. My tank is in my bedroom and is a 60 gallon cube with a Kessil A350W and an aqua euro skimmer. It's been running for over a month but I recently transferred everything over from a 40 gallon tank that had been running for two years. I have SPS and LPS with a maroon clownfish, coral beauty angle, yellow goby, and a lawnmower Blenny. I transferred everything over the course of a few hours and didn't run into any problems. As for the other tank. It's in the living room and is a 60 gallon with a 6 bulb T5. Tek fixture running a _ skimmer. This tank has SPS and LPS as well. The tank has two clownfish, 4 damsels, a yellow wrasse, and a lawnmower blenny Just recently we purchased a 150 gallon tank (60"x24"x24") that came be itself with a built in center overflow. All we need for the new tank is a bigger sump and stronger power heads. One of my questions was what the recommended sump size we should get as that's the only thing really holding us up. For movement we were going to get a Jebao WP40. Even though its a cheap brand we trust it because our LFS has one in a big 120 gallon frag tank and it seems to work really well. I've ran an Odyssea T5 light over my 40 gallon tank for 9 hours a day for over two years and they have worked perfectly. I'm willing to take the risk because I'm hoping that they pull through for me. And for the big part we wanted to know how to transfer over all of the coral and fishes to the new tank and how to do it. So far my dad and I are set on the idea that we set up the new tank and fill it with new water and put in a new sump with the current skimmer and connect the jebao. The only problem is we want to use the sand and rock from the old tank in the new one. So we kind of have different ideas on how to do it. We don't have room in my tank to transfer coral because I'm pretty much at capacity. If anyone could give us an idea of how to do it quickly without making a mess that would be great. We tend to have luck with things even when we put the tank through enormous stress so no idea will be too extreme. Thanks |
