hardy coral?
I would like to get a coral for my tank to try it out but being new to the hobby I would like to het a hardier type coral. What are some hardier corals? do I need special lighting for it? if so how much lighting, does it need lighting at night? anything else I should know?

Anything soft, like leathers, kenya tree, xenia or star polyps. Mushrooms and zoanthids are pretty tough as well. Keep in mind usually the easier they grow and survive, the more likely they are to over-spread to places you don't want them to go.

xenia is hit or miss. green star polyps, leathers, mushrooms are all pretty hardy. duncans are nice, too.

+1 on Green Star Polyps - just keep them in check. Leathers would be my next choice.
