First ever refugium questions!

So I finally bought a used HOB fuge for my 55 gallon since I have no sump. My plan for the fuge is simply chaeto and LR in order to breed or help breed pods in there. Is a light necessary to grow chaeto at all or just to keep it realllyyyy growing. If so, anyone have any recommendations for a cheap clip on led? Can you use any led clip on light?

yes light is needed - best to turn on after lights out on DT. My first refug was also a hob. it will help a lot just put sand and live rock rubble in it.
