White marks on back of aquarium
Hello,
I've had my Biocube 29 cycled since March of this year. A month or so ago these white marks started appearing on the back wall. Does anyone know if this is normal or a disease? I would like to know what it is. Thanks, Jason |

If they are hard calcium based structures it looks like tube worms starting to form.

Ok, thanks...but would tube worms be a bad thing/nuisance or food for others?

As time goes on you will find these everywhere. From rocks to the inside of your pumps. They bare harmless as far as I know. When a colony starts to expand its "feathers" it actually looks pretty cool.

Thanks, they are definitely hard to the touch. I'll see what happens.

spirorbid worms. their numbers will bloom, then die off back to a level that will rely on their food source. harmless for the most part, keep your pumps clean and scrape them off any surface you dont want them on.

Here's a good article regarding some of those worms on the back glass.
