Salinity
Hey there, I am relatively new to the scene. I started my 36g tank back in June and it's going fine now. I had a couple hickups in the beginning, I lost a couple fish due to not changing the water frequent enough. I did get a little clown fish, a couple shrimp, some snails and a couple hermits to occupy the tank for now, but really I am trying to focus on corals, fish will come later. My salinity has gotten a little out of hand because I did not top it off with fresh water. I was just wondering how much I should add to get it back to normal. It's at 1.026 right now, I can lower it .001 per hr right? I just don't want to add to much to fast and hurt any little guys in the tank. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi there. 1.026 SG is what I keep my tank at, it is what most people shoot for.
If you wanted to lower it then I would mix up a slightly lower salinity batch of water on my next WC until you get to where you want. But 1.026 is perfectly fine.

+1, if you are planning on keeping corals 1.026 is perfect.

1.026 will make maintaining calcium and alkalinity alot easier as well once you start adding hard corals

Awesome, I just wasn't 100% sure if it was going to do any damage being that high or not. Thank you for making me feel better :-)

As cheap as refractometers are I would go that way for accuracy. 1.026 is we're I would be.
