Freezer burn on rods, No good?
Should I throw it out?
How long does the frozen food last? |

Freeze burn is basically when moisture leaves said item. Normally this occurs when the item is not in a sealed container. It won't hurt the fish but flavor will suffer and I would just buy new. Just buy less or store it in a air tight container.

Freezer burn is essentially freeze drying. Keep frozen food almost indefinitely in sealed bags, but even if dried out, you can recover it by soaking in something like Zoe for an hour or two before feeding to your fish. I see no reason to discard it.

Would you eat a freezer burned steak? I guess it depends on how hungry you are, but I would not feed it to my fish and they may not eat it. Double/triple bag frozen items and they will last ~6months.

My dogs will eat stuff that'll turn even the hardest stomach. I doubt fish "taste" like we taste, heck one of my tangs will take in a glop of poop, realize what she has done, spit it out, see it moments later, and grab it again. and again. and again.
Lop off the dehydrated portion if you must. I'd rehydrate and see how it goes. |

I would still use it. After all, it's just fish food.

I would have to argue with this. I have shrimp I chop up and my Anthias will select which pieces they will swallow and spit out about 30% of it. My piranha green chromis will come around and taste it and spit it out also and they eat ANYTHING, well, just about. If THEY will not eat it, I just dont get it. Its all part of the same part of shrimp that they just did eat???
Some other fish just are not as picky and want to fill their tummy's. You can use freezer dried foods just fine other than dont expect the same results as fresh fresh foods. |

I would use it, i do use it and will continue to use it. It's still fish food and I can tell you 100% that my fish don't care, just like the honey badger. They told me so.
