How Does This Live Rock Look?

Hey guys, picked up some live rock the other day from a new LFS. This tank has been up for less than 48 hours, so sorry if the water is a little cloudy

$6.50/lb

$8/lb

FTS.

The other base rock is from reefrocks.net, so far is great.

Just my opinion, but it looks like base rock that someone had in a tank for a couple months to get a little color to it. It doesn't look like there's much life or coraline on it, and it's not porous enough for some people's liking. That being said, if you like it, that's all that matters. There may not be the biodiversity, but the bacteria will be there.

Alright thanks! I'm just hoping its enough to cycle the tank and eventually seed the base rock I have.

The bacteria will grow and spread fine, no worries there. Have you started feeding the tank at all? "Ghost feeding" the tank allows the bacteria to multiply. A tiny pinch of food, some will use a fresh shrimp, some will use straight ammonia...no reason to go crazy with this, but you will want something.

Tank looks good BTW.

At least it's slightly porous, I've seen worse.

Yeah, that would be BAD, there is a bit of a gap between the heater and the rock.
