New to RC- looking to go bigger!! Help
Okay here it goes I been in the hobby since 2008! I started with a fowlr tank. I started with corals about 2 years ago (2-29 bio cube hqi's). I'm looking to start a new tank approx 85-120 gal. I'd like LEDs, prefer rimless, refugium with filter socks, I pretty much have the bulk of my livestock ill be transferring to the new system once it cycles! Yellow tang, blue tang, 5 chrom, 2 clowns, fire shrimp, and numerous Lps and sps. Can some share some pointers on optimum deminsons? Should I go 24" tall or 20"? The sump/refugium will have to go underneath the tank. I have ample space for the tank as my living area is 25x30. Thanks all in advance!

For a reef tank I love the standard 120 dimensions (24" x 48" x 24" tall). For a reef tank the extra depth and height helps. The blue tang really needs a bigger tank than a 120.

I like tall and deep tanks. Get what fits in your space.

With your tang anything less than 6ft is a disservice to the husbandry of the fish

For coral I would hold out for a 24" deep (front to back) tank.

Tangs are Active swimmers they need tank " Lengh " how high and wide is not as important just as long as they can turn around.
You can keep one in a small thank tho you just have to trade it in when it out grows the tank. |

Ok hokies I see! Thegrun I actually love the look of the deeper tanks more so than the shallow ones. I think I'll continue my search! Most online stores have good deals on tanks but the shipping charges are out of this world

Are any of you guys and gals using LED lighting. I'm currently using T5's on my current system. Any pros and cons to LEDs... any brand recommendations?
