MP10 on 1/2" thick tank?

Is anyone using an MP10 on a 1/2" thick tank? The max thickness listed by Ecotech is .375". Unfortunately, my 15g tank is rimless, so it was made with 1/2" acrylic. Because it's 15 gallons, it would be ludicrous to use an MP40. I'm not too concerned about it staying in place, but I'm wondering if the distance will significantly affect normal operation?
