Ick??

Hey guys I purchased a diamond goby yesterday and he has been kicking up sand off and on for most of the day and there is fine white particles floating in my tank now. Please tell me that the white specks I just noticed on my yellow mimic tang and one of my clown fish is indeed some of these little particles that has stuck to my fish....I see a few spots of white on my hermit crab too!!! i'm gonna keep my fingers crossed and examine for new spots tomorrow and pray its not ick. I just purchased a coral beauty, splendid goby and the diamond goby yesterday and didn't see any spots on them or my other fish earlier today??? help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oftentimes, it can be difficult to determine if your fish have Ich when housed with a sand tossing varmint.

What you have to do is keep track of exactly where you are seeing white specks on your fish. If they are gone tomorrow, it's probably not Ich. If they remain in the same place for 2-3 days, it probably is Ich.

Ich won't attach to your hermit so that is for sure not ich.
As for the fish, try to establish the specific location of 2 or 3 specs in each fish and check back on them in a couple of hours... If they moved, they're likely not ich.
Consider quarantining.

If you don't start using a QT; ich, or worse, will come along sooner or later.

+1
But make sure it's a treatment QT and not just a observation.

I know fish aren't easy to get pictures of or at least tangs aren't but try and get some pictures.
