did it pop out from a rock, and does it look like it has cactus spines? bristle worm more then likely, unless it was blackish, may be an eunicid worm :/

It is a bristle worm. No, it will not kill you in your sleep; it is much too clever. It will invade your thoughts. It will haunt your dreams and make you wake up in a cold sweat. It will cause your car to make an expensive-sounding "ping ping" noise that your mechanic cannot diagnose. All your produce in the fridge will go bad. Your shoelaces will never stay tied. Under its influence you will make questionable fashion choices. Yes, it is a bristle worm. Look upon it and despair. Of course, it will keep your sand stirred and get detritus from nooks and crannies nothing else can reach. This is the price we pay for harboring these evil, useful creatures. I blame them for global warming, the breakup of my first marriage and scavenging leftovers from spot feeding coral. I've come to a grudging acceptance of them in small quantities. But make no mistake, they are evil. Do not turn your back on them.

reduce feeding and their numbers drop, most of mine are gone just some here and there.
