Need to identify 'thing'in live rock

I am new to saltwater tanks and have a 16 gal. Nano that has been cycled and running for about 7 weeks. I have a couple of Clown fish, fire shrimp, some hermits and snails. I noticed this 'thing' yesterday and would like to identify it. It is a half inch long, translucent, kinda yellow/brown. I watched it today grab some floating food like an octopus and go back into the rock to digest. I just want to make sure this is not a problem and just part of the liverock ecosystem. Any info would be great. Thanks!

Aiptasia. you don't want it. Inject Joe's juice, kalk paste, hot water or lemon juice.

Yep, hitchhiker.

I've never done the boiled water thing, but others swear by it. I'm a kalk-paster myself.

I use boiling water in a marinade syringe........lol
I nuked a cup of water, took a marinade syringe out the drawer, drew in the water and reached in and plunged 2 Aiptasia on my rock and that was that.
I now see a little one growing on the sand or glass of the tank that will get my attention sometime this week....lol

I did the same thing with the marinade injector - Three blasts of water and it was history.

make sure you get the whole thing because if you dont, it might fragment and spread or the foot might regenerate
