What is this bug on turbo snail shell??
All,
I found this parasite looking thing on a turbo snail shell. I took out the snail and a hermit crab and it migrated to hermit crab shell, where I took these photos: Shell Parasite 1.jpg Shell Parasite 2.jpg Anyone know what this is?? Sorry, I'm a newbie and this thing doesn't look like something I would want in my new tank. I checked on this hitchhikers guide but didn't make an ID. http://www.chucksaddiction.com/hitchhikers.html Thanks!! |

It looks like a chiton, which is actually on that page you linked. They are mollusks just like your turbo snail. I don't know if there are parasitic species but I highly doubt it. They eat algae and are good to have.
