UV plumbing help please

For better or worse I am considering adding a uV sterilizer on to my 65 gallon setup. I currently have a 1" drain with an eheim 1262 split to dual returns with 5/8" lines. The eheim with 4' head pushes out about 650 gallons per hour. If i install a uv, can i have a pump in the first compartment and then dump the water into the refugium (2nd comoartment) or in the final one where the eneim sits? Would it be better to use the eheim on one return line and use another one, thru the uV and then through the second return? The second uv line will only require about 450-500 gph. Thanks

I would increase your return line to 1", then plumb in the UV there....and then after it have the output from the UV slit into your two 5/8". that way you dont have any isolated loops and all water in the system loop goes through the UV.

Will that decrease my flow back into the tank?

No, it will actually either stay the same or it might even increase it...it's hard to say without specifics. But highly doubtful that it will decrease your flow...and then you can save money by not running a second pump,
