To part with 2part to Calcium Reactor
I walk a lonely road.
My system has bloomed to the point where dosing 2part has become a high maintenance. My question to all former 2part to calcium reactors is, are calcium reactors require less maintenance? Are they hard to setup? Some say that dosing 2part is easier and is the same as far as maintenance issues. My concerns are that calc reactors may pose higher risks of tank crashes due to the increase of parts (Ph probes, solenoids, 02 tanks, reactors, lines). any positives for calc reactors to the ones that went that route?

I ran a calc reactor for a few years and will never go back. The monthly clogging of the solenoid valve was a nightmare...come home and it either was frozen open and caused a serious drop in ph, or closed shut and didnt do anything dropping the calc.
Since then I have purchased http://www.aquariumplants.com/Carbon...ator_p/co2.htm for dosing co2 to my plankton and haven't experienced a failure in a year...and it's very very precise. However I've been so happy with my 2 part dosing that I don't really have a desire to try this regulator for a calc reactor. |
