Skimmer recommendation NAC7, DiabloXS, Vertex
Hey everyone.
So I'm looking for the biggest skimmer I can fit in my sump. The room I have is 9" x 13" x 23". Here's the only issue. The water lever of the skimmer will have to be at 11". NAC7 seems to be the best bet with a footprint of 9.2" x 8.5" x 19.6 and a water level of 9.5"-11" The Diablo XS 160 with a footprint of 8.3" x 9" x 22" and a water level of 8"-9.5" (It would have to be at 11" in my sump) Vertex Omega 150 would be an extremely tight fit with a footprint of 9" x 12" x 22", but again, only a water level of 7"-9.5". Eshopps s120 with the smallest footprint of 7" x 6" x 17" and water level of 8"-10" Which do you think would perform best with my limited space and water level? Also, feel free to throw out other recommendations. This will be for a heavily stocked 90G |

Well I was hoping to get more replies soon, so I can take advantage of the black Friday sales, but I think I'm going to go with the Curve 7. 9.25" x 7.87" x 20.8", water level of 9.5"-11" rated for up to 240g on sale right now for $246. Seems like the best fit.
Although the sca-302 (bubble Magus knock-off) is on sale right now for only $112 |

Having owned skimmers with the rock pump (BM curve skimmers), and skimmers with atman pumps (sca), it's a no brainer. Bubble Magus hands down. It's worth the extra money. The vertex is probably gonna be the best of the bunch, but between the sca and the curve7, that's not even close. Difference in pump performance is huge.

The Vertex was my first choice, but it would be an extremely tight fit, and the water level would be a lot higher than recommended, and I wasn't sure if that would have a negative impact on performance. |
