Skimmer help please

Ive been cycling 2 weeks. Figured I'd start my HOB skimmer. I just dont get it though, if I turn it up enough to where bubbles make it to the cup, the cup will fill up and it would over flow. What am I doing wrong? I can take pictures of it if need be.

You don't want the level of the bubble up to the cup. Once your tank starts producing a substantial amount of organics, a froth will form above the bubbles and make it's way up to the cup. The level of the bubbles controls how wet or dry the skimmate will be.

So eventually the foam will make its way up to the top to fall over? Cause when I cut off the air enough to do so now, the cup will fill up way to fast.

I think I got it. Thanks for that info. Every couple of minutes a little froth does get pushed up and its rather dry.

You got it. The organics will eventually build up and come over the top as a froth.
