Please help not sure what these things are

Hi all, I have some tree like things on my live rock and not sure if there good or bad. I also have white spots on some of my rock that I have no clue about.

I would try and kill them while you can. They are annoying and really hurt when you smack your hand into them. They can also reach epic proportions in some tanks. I have a good bit of them and hate the way they look. I kill a bunch every time I do a water change, but they keep multiplying.
