We Treat marine ich this way, simple and safe in reef tank.

As we known, ich could be treated in 3 ways, coppor,Hyposalinity, and transfer method. All ways above are effectve on fish only tank, but not suitable for reef tanks, especially if you do not have any extra tank for treatment. And most important, even if your fish is cured in your treatment tank, when you put it into your main tank, parasite could still find it, and every work you have done is gone.

For those who have only one reef tank, I design a way to treat with the marine ich, based on transfer method.

1. Make an Acrylic box, inter-hang on your tank. the box should have one water-input and one water-output.
2. Water-input should on the top of the Side plate of your box, and the Water-output on the front plate should lower (at least 3cm) than the Water-input, and the water level of your tank should lower (at least 3cm) than the lowest position of the Water-output.
3. Keep ALL your fish in the box.
4. Pump water from your tank to the box, and eqiup a simple filter with the Precision less than 20 μm, and change your filter everyday, clean your box every 3 week.

Why is effective ?

1. As we know, parasite has 4 step of its life cycle. The key point is any step of it is smaller than 20 μm (your filter is less than 5μm), so by using this way , you can assure your box is a safe envoirnment.
2. the parasite in your main tank can not find the host, die consiquensly in 30days.
3. the matured parasite away from your fish need 3~7 days to breed the next generation, so ,clean your box every 3 week, 6 times in total is very important.

The box I made, as followed:
