Skimmer help! over skimming like crazy! bermuda aquatics bps 3c
After searching for hours through forums about dialing in the BPS 3c I decided to finally ask for help! I had this thing running successfully on 2 other tanks and it used to work like a charm and produce dark skimmate. with the old RIO pump (that worked on other tanks) it would either not skim at all or way over skim. I decided to buy the manufacture recommended Mag 7 and now all it does it overskim like CRAZY! I have the older model with the adjustable slider and it is all the way down. lifting it up would only make it skim more water out... Any help would be great! info on system- 120 gallons overall, basement filtration. tank is cycled and nitrates are low. Tank is lightly stocked FO with 1 tang and 2 small clownfish that are fed once or twice a day.
here is a video of whats going on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-BHbsozXfY here is a picture of the tank upstairs |

Looks like my skimmer after I use a new filter sock.
Did you do this or is there anything else in water such as poly filter, coral glue, etc? Ken |

Thanks for the Reply Ken. Nothing new in the tank...I want to let it "run its course" to see if it stops overskimming but its been less then an hour and I pulled out 3 gallons.. cant let it do that all night lol. here is a better quality video.

It's got to be something in the water, how long has this tank been setup?

you can restrict the air intake until it settles in.
simple as a piece of tissue paper wadded up to reduce the air intake. i keep a 1/4" tubing valve on my intake to reduce the air intake to the skimmer....

R-Ball- I put a ball valve on the pump output late night, seemed like it may help but I ran out of time to play. Do you think restricting air flow is a better way to control bubble formation? |

Maybe some oils or similar on the pump. It;s the only thing new in your tank.

I found a dried out instant glue tube in my tank caused my skimmer to go nuts, once I put a cupful of Revive in my accident it caused my skimmer to go nuts for 3 days. Sometimes get in there by accident or maybe you just glued some more rocks.
