Diatoms
My tank is in the diatom phase, about two months in. I'm getting some brown algae on the glass, and I'm wondering if i should just let it run its course or clean it off? I'm afraid of spreading the spores around the tank by cleaning it off.

Clean it, it will soon be gone regardless of scraping so you might as well enjoy your tank.

Ok great, thanks man. How long should the diatom phase take on average. For all my previous tanks its been 1-2 weeks.

Cool, I'm running phosguard at the moment to hopefully cut down on the visible algae/diatoms. 3 weeks isn't too bad seeing as I'm already entering week 2.
