I think I have a parasite!!

I have had a 2 spot tang for a little over a month now. After a few days I noticed a small white thing sticking out of the side of the fish. Almost looked like the tip of a rib. I have been keeping an eye on it and this week noticed it has gotten bigger. As well as the flesh around the area seems to be retreating. Almost like it's being eaten. The tang seems to be happy and healthy aside from this possible parasite. I looked around online and don't see anything like it. I'm trying to get a pic but all I have is my iPhone and the area he retreats to always puts the sore side away from me.

I would say try and get a better picture. The only white things i've dealt with on the side of fishes are cirolanid isopods. Nasty little critters.

You need to remove the fish to a QT tank and treat it, Check in with the folks in the Fish Disease forum.

I'm mixing saltwater as today as well as I set up a bottle trap. Not sure if that will do the trick though...
