Protein skimmer adjustment

Hey everyone. Just joined the forum today. Thanks for having me on board. I do have a little problem with my protein skimmer. Granted its not a top of the line model. It is a coralife. Fit for the 125 gallon tanks. I had good skim coming out the other day but after a day of cleaning it out, Ive been having some problems. Heres my issue.

Its now on day 4 and Im not even getting a bubble up to the cup. The skimmers air venturi I believe is on snug. It just doesn't seem to get the lift up into the cone. The water level sits right below the cup as where I had it last time. I know the skimmers require a break in period but really? This long??

Any help or pointers would greatly be appreciated. Glad to be a part of the forum. Im a beginner reefer but I want to learn everything about it. Cheers.

-Tommy

What's your bio load; aquarium size, skimmer age, fish and coral load, water parameters...

Is this a new setup? Slow the air down till you start to see a froth not just bubbles popping almost like a thick billed-up.

Or you might not the nutrients to skim since the tank is still new.

It's hard to tell from the description. I'm going to give a suggestion that you can do right off, but also a question. Possibly the tube is frozen, so take the 1/4" off the filter, breath in thru the tube to draw water up into it and then blow out hard to clear it.

Question, before doing that, is the bubbling within the chamber as vigorous as before when it was skimming?

You over tightened the pump intake I did the same thing when I cleaned mine

You need to turn it about a half turn then try it
