Question on Maintenance
I have a 28g JBJ Nano AIO and have noticed that there are a lot of wht sponges growing in my back chambers. I know Sponges aren't bad and in fact filter the water but do I eventually need to wipe the chambers clean and suck everything out during a water change? Would it be detrimental to my water quality considering how much they clean the water or would it be beneficial to get it all out?
Thank You |

I would leave them alone unless your water flow is restricted.

i would keep them as well. no need to clean that drastically. just siphon out what detritus you can, encrusting stuff is good for the most part.

I try to siphon out any detritus at the bottom of the overflow when I make water changes, but I would not remove the sponges.

Can sponge be exposed to air? If I suck up the detritus in the back chambers the water level will drop and expose some of the sponge. Isn't that a no no?
