T 5 bulb replacement FOWLR
I have a question. My 90 gal FOWLR tank has 8 - T5 bulbs. I have no coral in the tank. How often should I change the bulbs.

I would probably run them at least 2 years before swapping them out. Maybe even longer. Other than providing the light for you to see the fish, they don't really serve any other purpose. Save that money as long as you can.

if you're noticing algae out breaks and you havent changed any other variables, id say you may want to consider changing bulbs. if the tank looks the same as always, id say keep em a few years.

Thats what I was thinking, but I was worried about algae problems if the bulbs are old. I also didn't know if it would be a problem for the live rock.

Blue bulbs every 18 months or so. Daylight bulbs can go 2 years.
The real test will be the algae. If it starts to take off, bulbs need to be changed.
